PRAYER INTENTIONS OF THE HOLY FATHER
ENTRUSTED TO THE APOSTLESHIP OF PRAYER 2013

Traditional Daily Offering of the Apostleship of Prayer
O Jesus, through the Immaculate Heart of Mary, I offer You my prayers, works, joys, and sufferings of this day in union with the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass throughout the world. I offer them for all the intentions of Your Sacred Heart: the salvation of souls, reparation for sin, and the reunion of all Christians. I offer them for the intentions of our bishops and of all Apostles of Prayer, and in particular for those recommended by our Holy Father this month.

Amen.

    • In Memoriam - Fr. Richard Tomasek, S.J. & Fr. Bill Lynn, S.J.

      Fr. Richard A. Tomasek, S.J.
      (1944-2011)

Fr. Dick Tomasek, S.J. was part of my journey the the Holy Priesthood. In 1999, I attended a retreat at the Pontifical College Josephinum in Columbus, OH in order to come to a better decision about beginning seminary studies. Fr. Tomasek helped me on the retreat with the help of the Holy Spirit. By the end of the retreat, I was convinced that I needed to make this step in my life. He also was my spiritual director for many years and provided me with a great deal of encouragement, especially to be a man of prayer. Thank you Father Tomasek for your friendship and priestly example. God bless you and I am excited to see you one day again in Heaven!

Please also visit here to access archived teachings and homilies of Fr. Tomasek, S.J.

      Fr. Bill Lynn, S.J.
      (1922-2012)

Fr. Bill Lynn, S.J. was another holy priest that was part of my journey the the Holy Priesthood. I had the opportunity to take a pre-theology class on the priesthood with Fr. Lynn in 2000 or 2001 at the Pontifical College Josephinum in Columbus, OH as well as see him for spiritual direction for 2-3 years. Fr. Lynn helped me to understand how important it is to pray each and every day as that is what God calls His priests to do. One fun memory of Fr. Lynn was how faithful he was to his exercising. When he was a young man, a doctor told him to run each day to help him to remain healthy. Fr. Lynn did this for the rest of his life until his illness in his later years prevented him from exercising. I think he would make a great patron saint of runners and joggers and walkers. Thank you Father Lynn for your friendship over the years and for always being there for me. It will be awesome to one day hang out once again in our heavenly home. Perhaps we could go for a run and pray for other priests.

Fr. Lynn's obituary from the Columbus Dispatch can be found here.

Fr. Lynn's reflection on Christmas can be found here.

Fr. John Hollowell is a priest for the Archdiocese of Indianapolis. He shares that "this blog is a feeble attempt to heed the call of Pope Benedict the 16th for all priests to maintain a blog. I hope to post a lot of videos on here of homilies and talks, and share reflections on what I'm reading and what is happening in the world."
